Guest Post | Paru's Card Making Challenges

Hello fellow crafters,
Wishing all of you a very Happy New Year 2017!
I'm so glad to be joining Paru's challenge as a Guest Designer today. It's an absolute honour to be invited. I love playing along with her challenges. They are always so interesting.

I have created a card and two tags for the challenge this month. I wanted them to look like a set, so I have used the same stamp set & colour combinations for all of them. I wanted the sentiments to be generic so as to be given as a gift set.

To create my card, I have used the Altenew Painted Flowers set. I also used Altenew inks for coloring. I stamped & die-cut the flowers and leaves using the coordinating dies. This made my work so much more easier. Then I die-cut a panel using a Paper Smooches Border die to create a frame. The sentiment comes from another Altenew set- Label Love. I added few black paint splatters & silver stars and sequins for the finishing touches.

To create my tags, I have used the Lawn Fawn - Tag You're It stamp & coordinating die set to stamp and die-cut the tags. I gold embossed the outline of one of the tags to add some extra interest. I used the Altenew Painted Flowers set for the flowers and the sentiment is from the same Lawn Fawn set. I added few Nuvo Crystal dots to embellish it a bit and tied some silver & gold mesh ribbon along with thin black ribbon to finish them off!

I'm entering my card in the Altenew Inspiration Challenge. I'm playing along with Amy's June Challenge.

Please visit Paru's blog and don't forget to play along her challenge. I would love to hear what you think about my card & tags!

Thank you so much for dropping by!

Best Wishes | Card

Hi everyone!
I'm back to share a card I made for my DT post at Pretty Paper Studio. I have also shared a step by step tutorial below on how I created it. Here'a look at my card :

Here’s a tutorial on how I created it :

Step 1 : I first started by die-cutting a card panel for my base and then using the Prima Tuberoses Stencil and some texture paste. I did some wet embossing on the panel and I added a hint of color to the texture paste by rubbing in some Mango Smoothie ink from Altenew.

Step 2 : Once the embossing was dry, I started to stamp and die-cut the elements of my cards. I have used Altenew Doddle Blooms stamp and die set to stamp my flowers and foliage. I used the Tim Holtz Distress Speciality Paper to stamp all my images before die cutting them.

Step 3 : Once the images  were stamped and die cut, I watercolored them using different shades of Altenew inks along with a waterbrush. I have done some simple watercoloring to my images.

Step 4 : Once my flowers and leaves were ready, I stamped and die-cut a frame using stamp and dies from the Lawn Fawn Flirty Frames set.

Step 5 : Once the frame was stamped and die-cut, I did some fussy cutting in the centre of the frame and cut out the centre part of the frame completely leaving only the outline of the frame. This frame was then placed as the focal in the centre of my card.

Step 6 : Once the frame was adhered to my card,  I started assembling my flowers and leaves around the frame using some foam squares. Then die-cut my sentiment using a word die and the Tim Holtz Kraft Core Cardstock – Nostalgic.

And this is how the final card looks like.

I hope you like my card. I would love to hear your views regarding it :)

You make me happy !

Hi friends!
I have two cards to share with you today. The first one I've made is specifically for the Imaginations Challenge. This is an absolute last minute entry. :P I recently got the new Pink Paislee Hello Sunshine stamp and die set from Lulupu and had been dying to use it but I was just not finding time during the week to create anything so this weekend, all I did was craft. :D

Here's a look at the card. ... I've clicked the photographs in two different backgrounds and couldn't decide which one I liked best, so I'm sharing both the versions here.

The first umbrella card came together er very quickly as I knew exactly what I wanted to make here. I've used a red dotted pattern paper which was a RAK from Piali ( whose generosity I will never forget. . . Thanks a lot, Piali ) and the cloud and the rain drops are stamped.

Supplies used :
White Cardstock.
Pattern paper- RAK from Piali.
Hero Arts Tide Pool ink and Distress ink- Broken China, Versafine Onyx Black ink pad.
Heart punch, Ironworks Motif Circle die.

Challenges entered :
Imaginations Anything goes with Monsoon. ( Made it to Top 3 )
Daring cardmakers :Clean and simple
Crafts for eternity - Tic tac toe( I have used the the middle row:Use a punch (the tiny hearts are punched),The color blue,Use die cuts (the umbrella is a die cut ) ( Made it to Top 3 )

My second card is a continuation of my watercolor fascination  that I had shared earlier, consider it my TAKE TWO :)

With this card too, I knew exactly what I wanted to do but at the end of it I think if I could, I would really like to change my sentiment banner but unfortunately, it's hand-stitched to the card panel and I couldn't remove it without damaging the card panel. For the background, I've first distressed certain areas of the card using Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Peacock Feathers Distress inks, then I placed the MFT Moroccan Tiles stencil on it and sprayed it with plain water and let it dry, then I spattered some drops from Heidi Swapp Colour Shine Teal and Gold Lame . LOVE them! I also used the Lindy's Stamp Gang Hottie Patottie Starburst spray and after it dried, I stamped the butterfly trail using a Inkadinkadoo stamp set. The butterfly has been clear embossed and heat set, coloured and fussy cut and is from the Lawn Fawn Flutter by stamp set.

Supplies used :
White and black cardstock.
Lawn Fawn Flutter By stamp set.
MFT Moroccan Tiles Stencil
Heidi Swapp Colour Shine Teal and Gold Lame mists, Lindy's Stamp Gang Hottie Patottie Starburst spray and  Dylusions Teal spray.
Distress inks- Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Peacock Feathers, Versafine Onyx Black ink pad.
Studio Calico Wood Veneers- Stars.

Challenges entered :
BGC -Watercolors.
AAA CAS cards -Watercoloring
Keep it simple - Ombre
Moving along with times :Faux or real stitching.

ETA - A blogger friend and fellow crafter, Sujana at Crafting for Passion blog is hosting a blog candy, would love it if you would drop by her blog and be part of it. :)

Hope you all like my cards. Would love to know your views on both my takes, so please do drop me a line. :)

My first take on Watercoloring

Hi friends!
After a quite long time, I am just blogging for 'just me.' No DT commitments and just for the fun of trying out something new. Well, in my case it's watercoloring. This trend is really very happening right now in all of the blogland and I have been  SO inspired by my fellow crafter's and bloggers to give this trend a try. This is very addictive and I have another card on which I am working as well based on watercoloring which I'll share later. Here I'll have to mention my friend and fellow blogger,Pallavi, she was the one who pushed me into giving this a try. Thanks , Pallavi :) Here's a look at my first try :

I have not gone full-fledged into watercoloring rather what I did was I stamped and clear embossed the flowers and the leaves on watercolor paper and colored them using my distress inks and then I fussy-cut all those images and popped them on foam dimensions.
Then, stamped my background using Hero Arts/Basic Grey Square Pattern background stamp, cut it diagonally, stamped my sentiment on a white piece of cardstock and adhered with my diagonal pieces. Then for the final touch I heat embossed  my base cardstock on all four sides using Ranger Super Fine Gold embossing powder and mounted my panel onto it.
If you notice closely, I have adhered very small gem stones to my flower centres, I mean those little flowers which I have scattered around.

Supplies used :
Watercolor paper - Fabriano Elle Erre white,
Stamps -  Hero Arts/Basic Grey Square Pattern background stamp, Lawn Fawn Flutter by and Blissful Botanicals, Winnie & Walter The Big, Bold and You stamp set.
Inks - Versafine Onys Black, Distress inks- Peacock Feathers, Tumbled Glass, Crushed Olive and Festive Berries, Versamark Dazzle embossing ink pad.
Embossing powders - Ranger Super Fine Clear embossing powder, Ranger Super Fine Gold embossing powder.

Challenges entered :
Lawn Fawn - Texture (I have used embossing powders and gem stones to add texture to my card)
BGC -Watercolor ( Honourable mention )
Addicted to CAS #45 -Geometric

Hope you like my attempt at watercoloring. If you have any suggestions/feedback regarding my card, would love to hear from you. :)
Have a nice day everyone!

A gift box !!

Hi friends!
Today, I am sharing with you all a giftbox that I have made from scratch using cardstock and some beautiful pattern paper . The measurements of the box and the method on how I made it, I have referred to the youtube video of an international crafter that I found on Pinterest. HERE's a link to it if you are interested in making this.and keeping in mind the current Lulupu challenge which is to use 'Minimum 4 colours from the Lulup logo + create banners or pennants . This cute, little box can very easily hold a small sweet treat or an accessory like a bracelet or some pretty earnings. This could make a perfect party favour gift too! So, here's a look at what I have made :

To make this box, I have first cut and scored the cardstock, then measured and cut the pattern paper from the DCWV Fresh Floral Stack accordingly, and then covered all the four sides and the top of the box with it. Then, I created a small handle on the lid to make it easy to open and decorated the front of it using a die-cut panel which I have distressed on the edges using Crushed Olive Distress ink. I stamped the sentiment in the centre and also stamped, colored and fussy-cut the flowers and leaves using the Lawn Fawn Blissful Botanicals and Flutter By sets. Added the banners on the two sides of the box and a punched lace using the Martha Stewart Doily Lace which was then colored using Distress inks- Crushed Olive, Shabby Shutters and Tumbled glass.

Challenges entered :
Kraft Zone- Dies with Pattern paper.
A Creative Romance- Anything goes with Happy Birthday!

Hope you like my box. Do leave me your comments/suggestions.
Have a nice day everyone!

To make this card,I have first stamped the flowers, the leaves and then colored them using Distress Inks and a dauber...This was the fastest way to color them and the colors have come out really bright....I have tried out something new here...
Tip : Do you see the 2 ribbon strips on the bottom...Those are created by coloring cardstock's  with Festive Berries Distress ink and cutting them in thin strips and then I have done Faux Stitching over them to give a Grosgrain kind of look...This idea was inspired by Tejal's card which she had shared over Swap Central India..Thank you so much Tejal  :)

Hi friends,
So today I am back again to share with you a card I have made for my blogger friend Deepti's celebration challenge...She had challenged us to case any of her card for her celebration challenge and here's my take on her card :-

MY card :-

And a side view of my card :-
And here is DEEPTI's card below :-
As soon as I had seen Deepti's this card I have been wanting to case it...There is something about the colors against the black background that really stood out for me...I really really love Deepti's card!
For my card,I have done a lot of paper-piecing using the Lawn fawn stamp sets on plain color cardstock...And the fussy-cutting was the most tedious part...My finger's  are still paining after cutting out those tiny itty-bitty leaves :P...But I am so happy with the end result that it was totally worth the effort !!

Supplies used :-

Mini-Notecards! :)...

Hi everyone,
Today I am sharing with you note-cards made using dies!..Though I do not have much of Nestabilities/Label dies in  my stash..In fact own just two of them...But,I was quite keen on making these note-cards based on the tutorial which I came across at the IBS WHW #95...Their DT member Kendra has shown a lovely tutorial on how to use label dies creatively!...Here's a look at my cards based on the tutorial...I have made two of them :-

Since the dimensions of these cards are really small there is not much scope to embellish them...So I have kept my work fairly simple!..On the first card I have stamped the bird-cage and heat -embossed it and then created the small flower cluster on the bottom...For the second card I have used my newly purchased Lawn Fawn stamps...The flower is colored with Steadler water color pencils and then I have applied Glossy Accents to give it a nice shine and texture...Done the same with the butterfly too...!!
I really liked the way both these cards have turned out...Though creating on such a small scale is a bit difficult for Me :P...

Supplies used :-
Base CS- Campap and Fabriano Elle Erre!
Best of K &Company  Pattern Paper pack.
Dies : Spellbinders Nestabilities Label 3, Itsy Bitsy Fancy Venetian Die.
