Spellbinders January 19th Clubs Blog Hop + Giveaway!

I am excited to share with you a thank-you card I created using the Stitching Die Club of the Month - Nested Stitched Burst from Spellbinders. Spellbinders has just introduced this NEW Club from this month, and it is such a beautiful one.

To create the card, I used three different shades of orange floss from the DMC Color Essentials Floss Bundle Warm 10-Pack. I began by die-cutting the main panel using a piece of Cream Cardstock. This gave me a base with a perforated grid to do my stitching.

Next, I cut out the center panel, which is also a part of this die and added some stitching using a light coloured thread. To add some extra detail, I added some Gold Pearls to accentuate the design. I then die-cut two other circles from this die set and layered them using some foam tape.

This month also features an optional à la carte clear stamp set that coordinates with the Stitching Die Club of the Month called the Sentimental Greetings Clear Stamp. I used a sentiment from this set and stamped it in the center of the circle die-cut piece.

Finally, once I had stamped and heat embossed my sentiment using Clear Embossing Powder, I cut out some flowers and leaves using the Be Bold Blooms Etched Dies from the Be Bold Collection and I Dance Etched Dies.  Then, I colored my florals using some OLO Coral Tones Alcohol Markers Set and the leaves using the OLO Forest Alcohol Markers. I assembled the pieces on to my card panel using foam tape. Then, to complete, I mounted my card panel to an A2 top-folding card base using tape runner.

I have a 3D Vignette Card to share for the hop today using the Spellbinders and Amazing Paper Grace May 2022 Die of the Month Set. 

The Pop Up 3D Vignette What’s Bakin’ Oven Set is a new addition to the Amazing Paper Grace 3D Vignettes Collection and features fourteen cutting dies. The What’s Bakin’ Oven is an adorable 3D Oven that folds flat for mailing and comes complete with tons of baking accessory dies perfect for use on regular cards. There are a number of small pieces inside this die set, but the packaging has a helpful step by step guide on the back that makes it very simple to put this oven together. As with other Vignettes, you can make a 3D item or use it flat on a card.

To create my card, I first cut out the oven front die twice with door inserts using Waterfall and Snowdrift Cardstock. Next, I cut out the oven front die without door inserts six times using Silver Brushed Cardstock and Onyx Cardstock. I trimmed the pieces as required and then cut the remaining decorative pieces out of  Silver Brushed Cardstock and Onyx Cardstock.

Once I had all the pieces die-cut and ready to assemble, I adhered acetate behind the blue top door and added handles using Craft Glue. Next, I adhered the doors onto the blue layer - While adhering the doors, make sure the doors can open. Next, I adhered the strip with knobs with liquid glue and set it aside. 

Once the base was ready and assembled, I die-cut the sentiments from Onyx Cardstock and adhered it down on the front layer using liquid glue. Next, I adhered the baking racks and adhered the white oven layers onto the blue layer for definition and interest. Then, I folded the 3D Vignette pieces on perforations and used a tape runner to apply adhesive to the folded tabs. I attached one side of the Vignette piece to back layer of oven and placed 3 interior layers into slots. I repeated the process with the Vignette piece on other side. 

This 3D Vignette is a little different! It has a top layer (range top); and I die-cut and adhered 4 burners (cut from Silver Brushed Cardstock and Onyx Cardstock) to the range top to embellish the piece. Next, I folded the tabs and adhered the smaller Silver Brushed Cardstock tab to the back of the front oven layer so it is even with the top edge. Next, I attached the front of oven to the front of the 3D vignette assembled piece. Then, to further embellish the project, I adhered the utensil rack, utensils and other mitt to the 3D Vignette.

I die-cut some flowers and foliage out of Snowdrift Cardstock using the Petite Floral Potpourri Etched Dies and added a bit of Worn Lipstick, Twisted Citron, and Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide Inks to the petals and leaves and Spun Sugar ink to the flower centre with a sponge dauber to add shading. Then, I embossed the individual petals using the stylus tips from the Susan's Garden Ultimate Tool Kit and assembled the pieces with liquid glue.

I love this cute oven and how it all came together! The blessing is that if you don’t want to go all out 3D, it’s perfect to be used for the front of your card too. In fact, the oven door opens and it would make a lovely money holder, with the bills tucked into the door.

Spellbinders Large Die of the Month | March 2022

I hope you're having a great week so far! I have a spring-time Slimline Card to share today featuring the Spellbinders Large Die of the Month Kit. This month’s Large Die of the Month Kit, “Kaleidoscope Floral Slimline“, is a huge set of 6 dies that includes a beautiful background floral slimline piece, larger floral dies which layer up with the smaller flowers, and some leaves too, so if you didn't want to use the slimline part, you can still use the flowers.

I used all of the dies included in the kit to create this Slimline Card perfect for sending to a friend or a coworker.

To make my card, I first die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock, Mirror Gold Cardstock, and White Fun Foam using the large background die in the Kaleidoscope Floral Slimline Die Set. I adhered the pieces together using Craft Glue, offsetting the gold mirror die cut to create a shadow, before adding it to my card front. Next, I die-cut the kaleidoscope flower and other layers out of Snowdrift Cardstock, Mirror Gold Cardstock, and White Fun Foam to adhere on my card panel. I blended three different shades of inks from the Tea Party Dye Ink Set - Vineyard Berry, Pink Pearl, and Coral Bliss over the white floral die-cut pieces with blending brushes to colour the different flower layers. The leaves were coloured with Olive and Parrot inks using ink blending tools. I adhered the colored die-cuts to the cardstock backer die-cuts with liquid glue and popped some of my flowers up with some 3D Foam Adhesive pieces for extra dimension.

The sentiment was foiled in gold using one of the plates from the Be Bold Glimmer Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set on Snowdrift Cardstock and popped up on top with foam adhesive. To finish the card off, I watercolored a piece of Canson Montval Waercolour Paper using Carribean Sky and drug the color out loosely with water for a soft, watercolored background. I matted the panel with layers of Mirror Gold Cardstock and Dahlia Cardstock and adhered the panel down to a 4" x 9" White Slimline card base.

Spellbinders Embossing Folder of the Month | Garden Path

The Embossing Folder adds texture and dimension to any project. The embossing folder is a whopping 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″and can be used to make slimline, 5″ x 7″, and a variety of sized projects. It’s a beautiful design and perfect for creating spring cards of all sizes.

I used the Garden Path Embossing Folder along with the Be Bold Blooms Etched Dies and the Nestabilities Candlewick Rectangles Etched Dies to create my card. 

To create my card, I first die-cut Portbello Cardstock using the Layer 2 Die from the Precision Layering A2 B Etched Dies. Next, I embossed the panel using the Garden Path Embossing Folder in my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine. Then, I trimmed a piece of Snowdrift Cardstock to size before embossing it with the Garden Path Folder to create a pretty, textured, embossed pattern. Once that was done, I die-cut Waterfall Cardstock and White Fun Foam using the Rectangle 2 Die from the Nestabilities Candlewick Rectangles Etched Dies to create a frame for my embossed piece. I layered the pieces together, one on top of the other, using Craft Glue.

Next, to embellish my card, I die-cut Pink Sand, Fern, Waterfall, and Snowdrift Cardstock using the various flower and foliage dies in the Be Bold Blooms Etched Dies. I lightly blended Spun Sugar Distress Oxide ink over some of the smaller flowers using a sponge dauber to add a hint of colour. Then, I assembled the flowers, arranged them on my card, and adhered them down with both Craft Glue and foam squares. 

Next, I used Gold Hot Foil to foil Snowdrift Cardstock using one of the sentiments from the Be Bold Glimmer Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set and cut it out using the coordinating die. I adhered the piece onto my panel using foam squares for a raised effect. Then, to complete, I stamped an accompanying sentiment from the I'm Here for You Sentiments Clear Stamp & Die Set on to a strip of Snowdrift Cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink and popped it on to my panel using foam adhesive. Next, to add some visual interest to the design, I stamped a gingham border on a piece of Barely Peach Cardstock using Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink Pad and adhered the piece to my panel using Craft Glue. To finish, I adhered my card panel to a  top-folding A2-sized blue card base made out of  Waterfall Cardstock. I finished the card with some Glacier Jewels to embellish my panel.

I have an A2 Shaped Note Card cum Pocket to share for the hop today using the Spellbinders  – Amazing Paper Grace March 2022 Die of the Month Set. This month’s Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month Set, “Bella Ovalette“, is a large set of 12 dies that can be used to cut gorgeous decorative background panels as well as some pretty flowers and leaves to embellish.  It’s a versatile die and is a beautiful match to Bella Diamante. I love the soft curves and the unique shape of the shadow layer that can be used to make a shaped card.

To create my card, I first die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock, Mirror Gold Cardstock, Pink Sand Cardstock, and White Foam using the A2 Decorative Layer Die from the set and layered the pieces atop the card panel using Craft Glue. Next, I die-cut Mirror Gold Cardstock and Pink Sand Cardstock using the Large Motif Die from Bella Ovalette and adhered the pieces down on my decorative panel using liquid adhesive. The, I die-cut , and White Foam using the Smaller Motif Die in the set and popped up the layers up with foam tape to create a raised effect. 

Once the layers were all in place, it was time to embellish the card. I cut some of the flowers and leaves out of Snowdrift Cardstock and coloured the pieces using Cotton Candy, Coral Berry, Warm Sunshine, and Sunkissed paints from the Watercolor 36 Pan Set. I also used Copic Markers (RV52, YR68) to flick some colour out from the centers to add some quick colour to the flowers before layering them up and adding Gold Glitter Balls to the centers. I wanted my floral spray to look more full and wholesome, so I die-cut some leaves  and additional foliage from the Be Bold Blooms Etched Dies out of Snowdrift Cardstock and Peridot Cardstock. I watercolored the pieces using Bamboo and Frayed Leaf and embossed them with a ball stylus for a bit of interest.

Next, I cut the tiny Oval Die in the Bella Ovalette Set out of Snowdrift Cardstock, Mirror Gold Cardstock, and White Foam and layered up the pieces atop my panel using Craft Glue. I stamped my sentiment in the centre of the piece using Versafine Onyx Black ink and added some white pearls for visual interest. To finish, I mat the card panel with layers of Barely Peach and Mirror Gold Cardstock before adhering it to a side-folding A7-sized white card base using tape runner.

Spellbinders Embossing Folder of the Month | Sketched Floral

The Embossing Folder adds texture and dimension to any project. The embossing folder is a whopping 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″and can be used to make slimline, 5″ x 7″, and a variety of sized projects. It’s a simple and pretty design and oversized dimensions make it super versatile.

I created a Mini Slimline Card in springtime colours using the Sketched Floral Embossing Folder along with the Be Bold Blooms Etched Dies and the Fluted Classics Square Etched Dies.

To create my card, I die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock using the Layer 2 Die from the Precision Layering A2 B Etched Dies in my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine. Next, I embossed the card panel using the Sketched Floral Embossing Folder. Then, to add some visual interest, I applied Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide inks on the panel using an ink blending tool to highlight and bring out the raised areas more.  

Once that was done, I die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock using the Small Square Outer Rim and Insert dies from the Fluted Classics Square Etched Dies. Then, I die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock using the Small Inner Rim Die from the Fluted Classics Square Etched Dies and stamped a sentiment from the Garden Favorites Sentiments Clear Stamp Set in the centre of the panel using Versafine Onyx Black ink. Once that was done, I affixed the die-cut pieces on my embossed panel using foam squares for dimension.

Next, to embellish my card, I die-cut Snowdrift and Peridot Cardstock using the various flower and foliage dies in the Be Bold Blooms Etched Dies. I lightly blended Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink over top of each die-cut piece using a sponge dauber to add a hint of colour. I assembled the flowers first, arranged them on my card, and adhered them to with both Craft Glue and foam squares. 

Next, I die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock using the Layer 1 Die from the Precision Layering A2 A Etched Dies and applied Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink over the entire panel using a blending brush. I mat my embossed panel with this custom-colored background panel before adhering it to a side-folding Mini Slimline White Card Base using tape runner. I finished the card with some Gold Mix Color Essentials Gems to embellish my panel.

Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month | February 2022

Hello, crafty friends!

I have an ornate layered card to share today featuring the Spellbinders & Amazing Paper Grace February 2022 Die of the Month Set. This month's "Marvelous Medallion" Set is perfect for making gorgeous layered cards, tags, gift boxes, gift baskets, gift card holders, mini albums, and more. This die set features 13 dies.

This month’s set comes with 13 dies that can be used to cut decorative background panels, flowers, and banners.  The die set includes a split doily or split medallion that allows you to lay in any sentiment that you desire.  The banner shape is versatile and can be filled with filigree or left solid. There are also two flower dies included in the set, which you can arrange in a cross to create a flower. It's so simple and easy!

My card is 5" inches squared and I used the split medallion dies with the background panel dies to add depth and layers on my card design.

To create my card, I first die-cut Alabaster, Mirror Gold Cardstock, and Pink Sand Cardstock using the Split Medallion Dies included in the Marvelous Medallion Set. I affixed the detailed swallowtail mirror gold die cut onto base swallowtail label and then adhered the detailed die cut layers together using Craft Glue. Next, I adhered the base layers together, offsetting the gold mirror die cut to create a shadow.

Next, I die-cut Alabaster Cardstock using the intricate Banner Die included in the set. I die cut the layers a total of four times in order to help me create a background panel using the strips. Once I had all the die-cut layers, I adhered the strips down on my card panel using  Craft Glue. Next, I die-cut Mirror Gold Cardstock and Pink Sand Cardstock using the Nestabilities Classic Ovals (Large) Etched Die Set. Next, I adhered the layers together, offsetting the gold mirror die cut to create a shadow, and stamped a sentiment from the Embroidery Flowers Set using Versafine Onyx Black ink in the centre of the die-cut piece.

Next, it was time to embellish my card. I die-cut Pink Sand, Peridot, and Mirror Gold Cardstock using the flower and leafy branch dies included in the Marvelous Medallion Die Set. Once that was done, I used a medium pink Copic Marker to flick some colour out from the center to add some quick colour to the flowers. Then, I embossed each die-cut piece with a Ball Stylus and added white pearls to the flower centres for a bit of interest. Then, I tucked in a white satin ribbon bow near the sentiment for interest and adhered the floral spray down on my panel using Hot Glue. Next, I matted my panel with layers of Pink Sand and Mirror Gold Cardstock before adhering it to a top-folding square-sized white card base with tape runner. I finished the card by adding some green pearls all over my card panel for visual interest.
