These beautiful floral dies are so much fun to layer in different color combinations, but I kept things fairly straightforward for today’s card, adding a bit of a twist with some cover plate die sets for the background. Let’s get started with the details!
I began by trimming a panel of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock to size and placed the flower and bud dies from the African Daisy Die Set about one-third of the way down and as far to the right as possible and ran it through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine. I repeated the same steps with the leaf and the foliage layer dies. Next, following the layering guide, I watercolored a layer of Cotton Candy, Coral Berry, Rubellite, and Crimson from the Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set with the lightest color on the base layer. I largely concentrated the color in the center of the flowers and used liquid glue to adhere them altogether.
Next, I die-cut Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock and Citrine Cardstock with some additional leaves and foliage dies from the Create-A-Wreath Die Set. I mixed shades of green (Evergreen, Forest Glades, Bamboo, Frayed Leaf) from the Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set to get varying shades of green on my die-cut pieces and used liquid glue to adhere them together. I also added a die cut circle from the Create-A-Wreath Die Set, cut from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock to ‘ground’ the flowers.
To create the background, I die-cut Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock using the Dotted Scales Debossing Cover Die. Next, I die-cut a circle in the middle of the panel using the Circle Shape Medium Die from the Essential Circles Die Set. Then, I die-cut Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock using the Doodled Dots Cover Die and watercoloured the panel using the Lava Rock Brush Marker from the Tropical Fiesta Set. Next, I applied Sunkissed and Evening Gray inks to the previously die-cut panel using an ink blending tool to highlight and bring out the embossed areas more. I adhered the layers together with liquid glue and assembled the flowers on to the panel using foam adhesive.
Once that was done, I stamped a sentiment from the Belladonna Lily Stamp Set on to a strip of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock using Obsidian Ink and popped it on my card panel using foam adhesive. Next, I added a 1/4'' strip of Citrine Cardstock to the sentiment banner for visual interest. Then, to complete, I adhered the panel to a top-folding white card base using tape runner. As a finishing touch, I added some black and green paint splatters.
