Embossed Butterfly Encouragement Card

Hello, crafty friends!

I am so happy to be back here today to share a spring-inspired card using supplies from Crafty Meraki. If you're missing a friend or loved one and looking for a special way to let them know you’re thinking of them, this card would be just the perfect thing to send to them! 

My card for today features the Angel Wings Layering Stamp Set. The whimsical butterflies in this set can be used as is, or combined with floral images. The set consists of a solid butterfly outline and three layering stamps to create a beautifully colored butterfly image. All four layers can be used together or you can just color the outline. 

To create my card, I first stamped the detailed butterfly outline from the Angel Wings Layering Stamp Set Stamp Set using Versamark Embossing ink onto Vellum and used the Journey Gold Embossing Powder to heat-emboss the images with the help of a Heat Tool. Next, I stamped the solid butterfly image from the set using Passion Fruit ink onto Snowdrift Cardstock and then trimmed out both the pieces with a pair of scissors, leaving a small white border. (If you don't want to cut the images by hand, you can use the coordinating dies available for the set too!)

Next, I die cut Snowdrift, Mirror Gold Cardstock, and White Foam Sheets using the Fancy Oval Frame Die to use as an accent piece on my card. I adhered the layers together with liquid glue, allowing the gold layer to peek out from behind the white layer a bit. I then ink blended Passion Fruit ink to the top three-quarters of the negative die-cut piece with a blending brush for more depth. Once that was done, I used the Heidi Swapp Color Shine Spray in Lame Gold to add gold splatters to the panel for an artsy look. 

Next, I die cut Snowdrift Cardstock using the Diagonal Stitched Plaid Die and mounted the panel to a top-folding white card base made from Snowdrift Cardstock with tape runner. Once that was done, I die cut Snowdrift Cardstock and White Foam Sheets using the Outer Rectangle Die from the Stitched Scallops Rectangle Die Set. Next, I coloured the outer scallop edge using Passion Fruit ink with a sponge dauber for interest. I adhered the frames down on my panel using liquid glue and then started assembling the rest of the pieces together.

Next, I adhered the oval frame down on my panel with liquid glue. I wanted the butterfly to have a 3D look, so I adhered the solid image down first and then adhered the heat-embossed image on top, bending the butterfly wings upwards for dimension and interest. I also adhered some Glacier Jewels to the body of the butterfly for a bit of glitz and glam. This is such a fun and easy way to create eye-catching embellishments for all your projects! Finally, to complete, I stamped a sentiment from the Blooming Birthday Stamp Set on a strip of Snowdrift Cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink and adhered it down on my panel using foam squares for dimension. 

I hardly ever create projects sans flowers on them, but I am quite pleased with how this card has turned out. What do you think? I'd love to hear!

Floral Slimline Card with Crafty Meraki Products

I am back today to share a Slimline Card featuring various stamps and dies from Crafty Meraki. I often like to combine new and old supplies for my projects to find unique ways to use certain designs and today's project is an great example of that idea.

My card for today features the Imperial Garden Layering Stamp Set. I particularly love this set as it comprises many color layering and outline image options, making it a perfect set to have in every flower lover's stash. I have also used the Crafty Meraki Mini Slimline Timeless Frames Meraki Para-Dies for my project along with the April Meraki Floral Para-Dies and Spade Meraki Floral Para-Dies Die Sets. I love these sets and have been using them a lot lately because they are so versatile and fun! 

To create my card, I began by stamping the large outline flower and leaves from the Imperial Garden Layering Stamp Set in my MISTI on to Snowdrift Cardstock using Versafine Onyx black dye ink. I repeated the process until I had enough stamped images to create a large floral spray and then trimmed out the pieces with a pair of scissors, leaving a small white border. (If you don't want to cut the images by hand, you can use the coordinating dies available for the set too!)

I coloured the flowers using Bubble Gum and Candy Apple Liquid Watercolours, concentrating the darker color towards the centre of the images for depth. The leaves were coloured using Key Lime and Emerald City Watercolors and I followed the same technique as above while colouring them. Next, I die cut Snowdrift Cardstock and White Foam Sheets using the floret dies from the April Meraki Flora Para-Dies and Spade Meraki Floral Para-Dies. I watercolored the pieces using Bubble Gum and Candy Apple Liquid Watercolors in a light wash for a soft look.

Then, I trimmed a piece of Snowdrift Cardstock to 8 7/8" X 3 5/8" and placed the Argyle Stencil in the centre of the panel and applied Metropolis Ink lightly all over with a blending brush. I then flicked some black paint on my panel using a paint brush for a fun splatter effect. Once that was done, I mounted the panel to a top-folding slimline-sized light pink card base with tape runner. Next, I die cut Snowdrift Cardstock and White Foam Sheets using the largest frame die from the Mini Slimline Timeless Frames Meraki Para-Dies and adhered it down to my panel using liquid glue. I then adhered my stamped and die cut images down on to the panel using a combination of foam adhesive and liquid glue for dimension. To complete my design, I stamped a sentiment from the Angel Wings Layering Stamp Set on a strip of Snowdrift Cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink and then die cut the sentiment out using the Fishtail Flag Trio Die Set, before popping it on my panel using foam squares for dimension. Finally, I adhered a few Bubblegum Crystal Jewels to embellish my card panel.

Spring Blooms Card with Crafty Meraki Dies

I am back today to share a soft, pastel floral card featuring stamps and dies from Crafty Meraki. There are so many gorgeous layered florals in the Crafty Meraki store, but I thought the Kelsey Meraki Floral Para-Dies would look great in pinks and yellows. I loved mixing the floral die cuts with artsy blends and splatters for my card today.

My card today features the Kelsey Meraki Floral Para-Dies, April Meraki Floral Para-Dies, Spade Meraki Floral Para-Dies, Imperial Garden Layering Stamp Set, and the Angel Wings Layering Stamp Set.

For my card, I started out by trimming a piece of Snowdrift Cardstock to 4.025" X 5.625". Next, I placed the Diamond Motif Stencil in the centre of the panel and applied Mint Ink lightly all over with a blending brush. I then flicked some black paint on my panel using a paint brush for a fun splatter effect. 

Next, I die cut the Kelsey Meraki Floral Para-Dies, April Meraki Floral Para-Dies, and Spade Meraki Floral Para-Dies twice out of Snowdrift Cardstock and White Foam using my Spellbinders Platinum 6" Machine. To colour the pieces, I blended Bubble Gum and Sparkling Rose inks over the three large flowers using sponge daubers. Next, I coloured the pistils using Sunshine Ink and adhered it down to the centre of the flowers. Then, I blended Bubble Gum, Sparkling Rose, Ocean Breeze, and Fresh Pear inks over the florets using sponge daubers before adhering down the foam die-cut pieces behind for dimension.

Next, I stamped the small and large leaves from the Imperial Garden Layering Stamp Set using Olive and Fresh Pear inks and then cut them out with scissors, leaving a small border. Once that was done, I die cut the Small Circle Die from the Diagonal Stitched Circles Die Set twice out of Snowdrift Cardstock and White Foam and adhered it down to my panel using Liquid Glue. I then assembled my floral bouquet and then adhered down the pieces on to my panel using a combination of foam adhesive and Liquid Glue.  

Then, to accentuate my design, I die cut the Outer Frame Die from the Pretty Frames 2 Die out of Snowdrift Cardstock and adhered it to my panel using Liquid Glue. To complete my design, I stamped a sentiment from the Angel Wings Layering Stamp Set on a strip of Snowdrift Cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink and then die cut the sentiment out using the Fishtail Flag Trio Die Set, before popping it on my panel using foam squares for dimension. Finally, I adhered a few Sparkling Clear Sequins to my card panel and mounted it to an A2-sized top-folding white card base made out of Snowdrift Cardstock.

Floral Springtime Card with Crafty Meraki Dies

Hello, crafty friends!

I am honoured to be guest designing on the Crafty Meraki Blog today and have a bright and fun floral card to share featuring dies from Crafty Meraki's October Release. The Meraki Floral Para-Dies cut several different beautiful florals and foliage which can be used for both A2 and Slimline-sized Cards all year long. I simply love the versatility of these dies! 

My card today features the Spade Meraki Floral Para-Dies, April Meraki Floral Para-Dies, Chloe Meraki Floral Para-Dies, and the Blooming Birthday Stamp Set. 

To create my card, I first die cut Watercolor Cardstock using the Outer Rectangle Die from the Essentials: Stitched Rectangles Die Set. Then, I wet my watercolor panel with water and used Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, and Cracked Pistachio Distress Inks with a Water Brush in a dabbing motion, allowing the colors to mix slightly. I let the panel dry and then added some black paint splatters for interest.

Next, I die cut the Spade Meraki Floral Para-Dies, April Meraki Floral Para-Dies, and Chloe Meraki Floral Para-Dies twice out of Snowdrift Cardstock and White Foam using my Spellbinders Platinum 6" Machine. I coloured the die cut pieces using a variety of Copic Markers in different colour families before adhering down the foam die-cut pieces behind for dimension. I love how these flowers look combined together. They're so delicate and pretty! 

Next, I stamped a greeting and the coordinating banner from the Blooming Birthday Stamp Set on a strip of Neenah Solar White Cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink and then fussy cut the image using a pair of scissors. Once that was done, I die cut the Outer Frame Die from the Pretty Frames 2 Die twice out of Snowdrift Cardstock and White Foam and adhered it down to my panel using Liquid Glue. Then, to finish, I adhered a few Sparkling Clear Sequins to my card panel and mounted it to an A2-sized top-folding white card base made out of Snowdrift Cardstock.

Have you seen the AMAZING stamps and dies just released by Crafty Meraki this month? There are so many designs to choose from for all kinds of projects. Today, I am sharing a bright and cheery floral card using some of the new goodies from the shop. 

My card features the Imperial Garden Layering Stamp Set along with the April Meraki Flora Para-Dies.

To create my card, I began by stamping the large layered flower from the Imperial Garden Layering Stamp Set in my MISTI on to Snowdrift Cardstock using Candy Apple, Berrylicious, Passion Fruit and Coral Reef dye inks. I then trimmed out the images with a pair of scissors, leaving a small white border.

Next, I stamped the leaves on to Snowdrift Cardstock using Fresh Pear, Key Lime and Olive dye inks. I fussy cut them using a pair of scissors to work on my card background. If you don't want to cut the images by hand, you can use the coordinating dies available for the set. 

Then, I trimmed a piece of Snowdrift Cardstock to 4.25" X 5.5" for my card background and applied a thin layer of Liquid Watercolor - Aquamarine towards the lower two thirds of the cardstock and dragged the color out loosely with water using a Waterbrush Pen. Next, I die cut Snowdrift Cardstock using the floret dies from the April Meraki Flora Para-Dies. I watercolored the pieces using Bubble Gum, Sunshine, and Aquamarine Liquid Watercolors in a light wash for a soft look. 

Next, I die cut Snowdrift Cardstock and White Foam Sheets using the outer rectangle die from the Stitched Scallops Rectangle Die Set. I adhered the foam die cut piece beneath the white die cut piece and popped it to my panel using liquid adhesive. I also adhered the stamped and die cut pieces to my panel using a mix of foam and liquid adhesive. Then, I stamped a sentiment from the Blooming Birthday Stamp Set on to a strip of Snowdrift Cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink and popped it on to my panel using foam adhesive. To finish, I added a few gold ink splatters using the Heidi Swapp Color Shine Spray in Gold Lame.
