Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone!
I am so excited and honoured to be joining the Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop. You should have come here from the amazingly talented Barb's blog. If not, do check out the blog hop order at the Altenew blog and start from the beginning! I have four cards to share in total so let's dive in!

Here's a look at my first card.

I must mention here that my card has been inspired by the very talented Therese Calvird's card. She had made a set of cards using the same set and I really wanted to CASE it. Here's my version of it. I have used the Altenew Best Dad stamp set and coordinating Best Dad die set to stamp and cut out all my images. They were all coloured using my Zig Clean Clear Brush Pens. The sentiment is also from the same stamp set. I have also done some subtle stenciling on the background using the Altenew Morning Frost ink.

Moving on to my second masculine card. I have to confess here, that I had a really hard time coming up with these cards as masculine is not my forte.

I have again used the Altenew Best Dad stamp and die set for this card. I stamped the images, cut them out using the coordinating dies and colored them using the Zig Brush pens. I have cut out a portion of the big crate so that I could tuck in the tools. I love how cheerful and vibrant this looks! The background like the previous card has hints of stenciling in gray and few black paint splatters. I also added few stamped and die cut stars and the sentiment from the Best Dad set.

I now have some floral cards to share :)

I have used the Altenew Best Mom stamp and coordinating die set for this card. I first embossed my card panel using a 3D embossing folder and then stamped the main floral image using clear embossing ink on some black cardstock and then heat set it using Gold Embossing powder. I then die-cut the image using the Best Mom die set and coloured it using my Zigs. I  have popped up  few parts of the image to give it a layered look and added a gold glitter scalloped frame to embellish it further. The sentiment also comes from the same stamp set - Best Mom. I added die-cut letters for the mom sentiment and added few Nuvo Crystal drops for the finishing touches.

Onto my last card for today!

I used the recently released Extra Special stamp and die set for this card of mine. I wanted to do some watercoloring on this one, so I started with my Gansai Tambi watercolours and using a flat paint brush I made the stripes on the left side. Then I started working on the main focal of my card. I stamped and die cut the main floral image from the set and used the Altenew Red Cosmos ink set for watercolouring the flowers. The sentiment is also from the Extra Special set. I added the die-cut 'Mom' letters and few glitter and black enamel dots to finish it off.

The main goal for this hop is to send out cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes or shelters to let them know they’re not forgotten. Please check out the Celebrating Parents Card Drive and join this great cause by sending in cards. 20% of the profits earned from these stamp sets (Best Dad, Best Mom, Penned Rose, Extra Special) by 6/18/2017 will be donated to Food Bank of Central New York to support seniors in need.

'You do amazing things'

Hi friends,
Hope you all are having a great time this summer vacation. I have been busy with my kids, too but, I did find time to play along with this time's Altenew May challenge which is From Places Abroad- Tunisia. Here's my take on this challenge.

The inspiration picture :

I have taken inspiration from the above picture quite literally, as you can see. I have not only tried to include the colours but kind of tried to create the design from the ceiling as well.
To make this card, I embossed a piece of watercolor paper which I had painted very lightly using Salty Ocean Distress Stain with lots of water. I used the Anna Griffin/Cuttlebug embossing folder- Foundry, then I distressed a piece of watercolor paper with Distress inks- Chipped Sapphire and Peacock feathers and used this paper to die cut my frame.
I, then die cut the Memory Box Amira Flourish die from a piece of white scrap paper and covered it entirely with Inka Gold. This creates the backdrop for my flowers.
The flowers are from the Altenew Doddle Flower set which I have stamped and heat embossed on a light blue paper using Super Fine Gold embossing powder. The leaves are heat embossed on vellum and fussy cut.
The sentiment 'You' has been die cut from a SSS die and I have stamped the sentiment from the coordinating stamp set. Have splattered some drops on my card base using Chipped Sapphire, Peacock feathers and Heidi Swapp- Gold Lame mist using a water brush.

Supplies used :
Cardstock- Fabriano Elle Erre Black ,Fabriano Brustro Watercolor paper.
Stamps- Altenew Doodle flower, SSS Expressions for you stamp.
Dies- Itsy Bitsy Venetian Label die, Memory Box Amira Flourish, SSS Expressions for you die.
Inks- Distress inks- Chipped Sapphire, Peacock Feathers, Distress Stain- Salty Ocean, Versamark Dazzle embossing ink, Versafine Onyx black ink pad.
Anna Griffin/Cuttlebug Foundry embossing folder, Ranger Super Fine Gold embossing powder,  Heidi Swapp Gold Lame mist, Gems, Inka Gold.

I am entering my card in the SSS- Anything Goes challenge, Crafting When We Can- Bling it up

Have a nice day everyone!

Mini Magazine holder with folders !

Hi friends,
Today, I have a mini magazine holder to share. There are lot of different versions of these magazine holders/ card holders all over the internet and, I have followed a tutorial from one such source from HERE. Here's a look at the way I have embellished my magazine holder once the base was made :

This is the magazine holder :

I created a few folders with pockets so that I could store all my small dies in it. The base of the  folders are recycled from cereal boxes to give it a sturdy base.

To make these folders, I cut apart a cereal box and used the central panel of the box to make my folder by scoring it in the middle and folding it like a card base. Check the picture below :

I have decorated the magazine holder with DCWV Fresh Florals pattern paper stack, assorted Washi tapes and my handmade flowers using dies.

Supplies used :
Pattern papersDCWV Fresh Florals pattern paper stack, K &Company papers.
Dies : Cheery Lynn French Pastry doliy die, Cheery Lynn Olive branches die, Cheery Lynn Embellishment #3 die, Spellbinders Rose Creations die, Spellbinders Floral Flourishes die, Memory Box/ Simon Says Hexagons die.

Kaisercraft Butterflies stamp set.
Inks : Distress inks - Worn Lipstick, Shabby Shutters, Vintage Photo, Peacock Feathers, Versafine Onyx Black ink pad.

Imaginations- Embossing ( I have used modelling paste on my first  folder and have done dry embossing on my flowers)
City Crafter Challenges- Butterflies ( I have added them on my file holders )
Craft Room - Something old, something new ( I have used my new SSS Hexagons die and the Cheery Lynn doily die, old is pattern papers which I've been hoarding and also my Washi tapes which are atleast 2 years old. ) ( Made it to Top 3 )

Hi friends!

Well, today I am sharing a card which I made as an inspiration for the Lulupu blog where we are celebrating Lulupu's 2nd birthday this whole month with some really amazing prizes up for grabs.
Here's a look at my card which I have shared there as well!

This gives such a nice tinge of color to the stenciled area. The central pink flower is handmade and so are the filler's. I have shared a TUTORIAL for the flower on the Lulupu blog. Please do check it out!
To create my card, I have followed the sketch from Cardabilities. I really loved the sketch this time and wanted to play along with them.

Hi friends,
Wanted to share a quick card with you all today which I have made keeping in mind a couple of challenges :)...Firstly, I was inspired to play along mainly because of Lisa's challenge at Yvonne's blog where she has asked us to make a shaped card using Spellbinder's decorative labels..I have used the Resplendent Rectangles die to create my card..The design of my card is based on a card I had seen on Pinterest recently..Sorry don't have a link for it...Here's a look at my card first :
And here's the front view also :
As you can see, it's a pretty straight forward card where I have cut the dies from the Resplendent Rectangles set and overlapped them one on top of the other to create the ornate base of my card..And the pink flower that you see is made from the Rose Creations die also by Spellbinder's which I have colored using Distress ink -Spun Sugar..I dunno about you, but I am pretty happy about the outcome of the flower :D
Sorry I am keeping this short and simple, though if you have any queries regarding the card I will be happy to answer..So do drop me a line :)

As you all know,I love making my own flowers and this one is no exception..This flower was made from the Cheery Lynn Stacker #6 flower die and I have colored it using distress stains -barn door and festive berries.I have just started using distress stains and I am so in love with this product...These stains give such a bright and beautiful finish to all the projects and even my punched laces and trellis background are colored using distress stains..Now,I don't need to worry about the right color cardstock...By using the stains,I can get instantly the color that I want for any particular project!...Yayy for that :)

Hi Friends,

  And a another view :-

Altered Gift box and Decoupaging !!

Hi Friends,
Today I am sharing an upcycled gift box I have made using Mod Podge.. And one of the common technique using Mod Podge is 'Decoupage' where in you apply Mod Podge on any surface and cover it with color paper and in My case pattern paper and then apply Mod Podgeover it again to seal it.. I have up-cycled/.recycled an old gift box by covering it with white cardstock first then layered it with pattern paper with stamping on it done with Her Arts Flourish Background Stamp and then embellished it using various dies..Here's a look at My box :-

And a look at how it looks on the sides :

And a look at how it opens and a front view :

And if you have noticed I have used the local Handmade paper to make my flower's and all the greenery is also cut from Handmade paper I really liked the subtle glitter this paper gives and its so easy to cut through these paper's using dies ...They do get stuck with punches but with dies it cuts smooth as butter :) ..And all the small flowers are punched from plain white card stock and colored with distress inks..Don't they look so pretty :) !!!
The color's for my box were inspired by the Itsy Bitsy Color challenge  where we were asked to create any project using Greens and blue's with a neutral color and this is my take on it ...:)

Hope you all like my box ...Please do leave me your comments/suggestion's would love to hear from you :)

Guest Designing for LESSology # 24 -Your'e a Cover Girl! :-)

Hi Friends,
I am so happy to share that i have been invited to do a GD post at LESSology for their current Challenge Are you a Cover Girl!....For this challenge you can get creative with covers by making the cover of  a box, a jar ,a book etc...Totally up to you and use one upcycled item in your project!...So I decided that I would go with the cover of a box..And here's what I come up with :-

And this is how it looks when it is opened :-

And a few different views :-

This is  the box looks before it was upcycled :-

To upcycle this box I first peeled out the original paper then I Mod Podged it with plain Tissue paper... To do this I took plain white tissue paper and covered the box entirely with it and coated it with Mod Podge...This helped to stick the tissue paper thoroughly and also gave a nice texture..Then I painted the box in a light creme color both  inside and outside and then I measured up the sides, bottom and top and cut out my pattern paper, distressed the edges using Scattered Straw Distress ink and glued it..Then I embellished with various dies ,ribbons and flowers!...

Supplies Used :-

Guest Designing for IBSIC # 51! :)

Hi friends,
The card I am sharing today was made for my GD post at Inspired by Stamping inspiration Challenge # 51....So here's a look at my card first :-

And another view :-

My card is based on the color inspiration provided by the IBS ...Which is White,Orange and Green ...Here's a look at the color palette :

These colors are so vibrant and of course co -incidentally also the colors of our Indian national flag  :)...It was tough to use to use these colors but with a little hard work and with the help of lot of dies...LOL! ...This is what I have created :) ...The orange rose is handmade using the Layered rose die from MFT ...I am so in love with it !! ...The rest of leaves and foliage is all from Cheery-Lynn ...Even the banner on which I have stamped the sentiment is made from Cheery Lynn Lace Deco F corners by doing some clever cutting & sticking it on the sides of the small strip of white cardstock ...And I have covered a strip of white cardstock with Washi Tape and cut it out using a decorative scissors to create the scallop border in the bottom half of my card ...I love using washi tapes they are so versatile !!..So that's about all the info about my card !!
I am entering my this card too in Brenda's challenge as we both love using the trellis design and Brenda has made so many gorgeous trellis cards which you can see Here ,Here And  Here . ...:)
